Write more shorter posts

I haven’t blogged in a while and I really miss it. I don’t think that there’s an audience for these posts, but they’re a great way for me to process what I’m learning or working on.

So I have to remind myself of this simple rule: Write more shorter posts! So in no particular order…

What’s new?

I started an Extended Reality Meetup in Ithaca. We are present on Meetup and I built a basic website. We’ve already had 3 meetings: Two in real life at the local library (thanks for the free community rooms 🙏) and one in VR, via Mozilla Hubs. I can’t believe how amazing Hubs is and that it’s free.

The goal is to get people who are enthusiastic about XR in the same room to chat and learn. Our latest in-person meeting was an intro to AR Foundation for Unity and Mark Zifchock ran us through a full demo from scratch to AR app on Android—amazing.

Sketchfab is running 3December, the 3D modeling equivalent of NaNoWriMo or Inktober. It is inspiring me to take the Blender class I bought months ago on Udemy.

That’s it! And if you’re curious, I try to maintain a Now page, too.
